Technology Today Part II

I wrote a post a few days ago about how cool it was that I was able to find the name and then download Sting’s incredible new album, Songs from the Labyrinth all in less then 20 minutes and without leaving the comforts of my own home.

So I was looking around for new ring tones for my cell phone and what do I find? My absolute favorite song from this album, Come Again. So not only was I able to download the album (which I now have on my ipod and play regularly around the house, much to the boys’ annoyance) but I also get to hear it every time my phone rings. Ahh technology….

~Stephanie (who gets a kick out of the wide eyed looks I get from the boys when I mention that I did not have the internet or google when I was growing up)

About throwingmarshmallows

I am a homeschooling mom to two sweet, energetic boys although I am probably not exactly what you would expect (definitely NOT your stereotypical homeschooler, if there is really such a thing). I support progressive political causes (yes, liberals can and do homeschool!) and I have found a spiritual home in the Unitarian Universalist Church. I have no real idea of how I want to use this blog, but will probably focus on homeschooling, things that I am learning from my boys, personal thoughts and opinions and maybe some liberal politics thrown in, who knows!

Yes, we get those looks too, fun isn’t it?

  2. My husband and I were just discussing the CARD CATALOG at the library of our youth. Yikes. Imagine keeping that thing up to date?!

Now, even my 5 year old can find a book he wants at the library by clicking on pictures for categories and then scanning the pictures of the book covers. He knows how to write down the call number and determine if it is available at our branch of the library. I still have to help him find the book though. :)

Technology is a wonder. I can’t imagine what the future holds.

That is a hard concept for our kids to wrap their minds around, isn’t it? When I was growing up, the closest thing to a video game was playing pinpall at the laundromat down the street. We had a black & white T.V. (without cable) and a rotary dial phone.

Where do you get those cool ring tones? I am getting really sick of mine, even though it is a classic, Love Will tear Us Apart, by Joy Division.

Mine are old enough that they mentally roll their eyes if I start something with, “When I was…” :D

  6. The ringtones were from a program already on my phone from Verizon. They had a pretty good selection (although they did NOT have the Va Tech fight song for some unknown reaso!)

I looked at several ring tone sites (I was looking for Rondo all Turca by Mozart) but either they did not work with my phone (or I at least I could not figure it out) or they wanted me to join for 6 months when all I wanted was one ringtone!
